From the outside (and boyfriend!)
This post has been long overdue. Today marks one exact year since I had moved into the lake house, but since the completion of this project, I’ve already moved on to another residence and repainted and infused my own style into that one as well.
What excited me about moving into the lake house besides the unbelievable location right on the water and breathtaking sunrises every morning, was the freedom I had to redo the interior any way I pleased! The structure was originally built in the 50’s and the interior had not been touched as is evident in the ‘before’ photos. I felt it would be fitting to create an interior palette of clean white to reflect the abundance of natural light, a wood-look flooring and touches of blue-grey to draw in the water that is surrounding. From the time I moved in to the time I moved out it was still an ongoing process to tweak and change little details.
I’d like to thank a million times over my parents who volunteered to help with most of the initial grunt work of painting the wood paneling with a total of 2 coats of primer, caulking the hundreds of holes in the wood, and a final 2 coats of white paint. It was an incredibly tedious task that they gave up numerous weekends for and I’m very thankful.
Also to my wonderful boyfriend Greg Dechow for taking the gorgeous ‘after’ photos and also doing an oil painting for me of the lake house to always remember. Living in such a beautiful place is certainly something to never forget.
